For assurances that scenes from straight plays can work beautifully at the Tonys ceremony, all you have to do is watch excerpts from "The Great White Hope," "Fences" (both with James Earl Jones) and "Broadway Bound" with Linda Lavin. That said, choosing what to showcase and how to shoot it have a great deal to do with whether they succeed.
