| with great cast - in addition to Grover Dale, there's his dancing compadre George Chakiris, plus Catherine Deneuve, her gorgeous late sister Francoise Dorleac, Gene Kelly, Michel Piccoli, Jacques Perrin and Danielle Darrieux; Darrieux is the only one whose real singing voice is used. Beautiful music by Michel Legrand and wonderful direction by Jacques Demy. A truly colorful and intentionally artificial tribute to Hollywood musicals and one of the films that inspired "La La Land". With Kelly, Dale and Chakiris dancing on display among its many pleasures, rewatching this fun film is always a treat. Glad that Messrs. Dale and Chakiris and Mademoiselle Deneuve are still with us. |
