It was actually going to be sadder until Judy Garland herself intervened. She thought it was much too sad and made the songwriters change the lyric from "Have yourself a merry little Christmas; it may be your last. Next year, we may all be living in the past.” to "“Have yourself a merry little Christmas; let your heart be light. Next year, all our troubles will be out of sight.” Good call, Judy -- and it's not only little sisters who react with tears to Garland's beautiful rendition. But you did say "freak out", so I'll believe you! :) | |
