I would bet the standby is fine, and your theory is right. I assume they feel that having the standby go on so early in the run is not helpful, and they're probably right. (Though I will also assume that Ms. Wade is utterly ready to go on - if I were in her position, I sure would be.) Once the show has been running for a while and the hype isn't necessarily as strong, it might be easier to do that.
