I don't blame you for wondering based on those. I would say that both of those shows are way way better and those roles are way more epic and career-making... and also they were her first big leads. It's very possible she has another gig she wants to move to (and I'm sure she has many more offers and gigs available to her now as a known broadway star with 2 Best Actress Tony nominations), or that the producers just wanted to replace both leads at the same time... but even if neither were true, staying in Miss Saigon as the world famous lead role in the first revival, and staying in one of the biggest hit original new musicals which won Best Musical, are very different than staying in a new musical that was dismissed by critics and the Tonys and many people are surprised is still running. And 9 months (plus Papermill) is enough time for her fans, and people interested in the show, to have had a chance or two to see her in it. I don't doubt she likes or loves the show/role and doing it, but, I'm just noting how different this is than doing Miss Saigon or Hadestown. | |
