McDonald told the New Yorker that she once discussed doing ''Gypsy'' and ''A Little Night Music'' with Sondheim. And he was fine with both choices. McDonald says she hopes to play Desiree someday, but for now jokes: ''Let me get this one ['Gypsy'] out of the way first.''
