Playbill.com learned that, at this time, R&H is not offering recorded orchestral tracks. Schools that license productions of Phantom will be performing with the full original orchestration. That's one hell of a misleading statement, because the full original orchestration includes pre-recorded orchestral tracks. Which were included (except, curiously, for one) when I played the show last summer. (The missing track was the self-playing pianola moment during the Don Juan rehearsal - I wound up recording it for us.) And yes, the pre-recorded high E for the title song was also included. :-) Now, I know what they MEANT was the the show can only be performed with live orchestra, not replaced with a full set of tracks, but still it's a very misleading statement. ;-) |
