My husband, who is 86, had an aunt who died a few years ago at age 102, named Florodora or Floradora (I think it was the latter, but can't be sure; she was known as Aunt Flora). Her brother (my husband's father) was given the first and middle names Darwin Marx. There's a world of gender scripts in that set of names. They were part of the Jewish diaspora that followed the miners to Denver and set up dry goods stores (more permanent metamorphoses of pushcarts in the East)--eventually five of the brothers on one side of the family founded Samsonite, named after the Hebrew strongman. There's the basis of a musical in there somewhere.
