I don't think I'd ever heard of "Adonis" until reading about it recently in "It's a Hit!" by David Sheward. I was surprised that the first musical (OR play) to run 500 performances was also apparently a success at least in part because it's star and creator, Henry F. Dixey, showcased his legs in tights which was rather titillating for its audiences. |
