Thank you for jumping in with the Carole Shelley correction. For more specifics, Geraldine McEwan replaced Smith in London (replacing one former Jean Brodie with another former Jean Brodie), and Carole Shelley replaced McEwan. Shelley also did a short East Coast stock tour of the show.
And to be a bit more precise, the tour with Redgrave (yet another former Jean Brodie, in fact the first) was not canceled. She, as we say nowadays, was canceled because of some of her political statements (as you mentioned), and Julie Harris did the tour instead. |
