| Last night, I was channel-surfing and came across Derek Klena, a Tony nominee for ''Jagged Little Pill,'' co-starring in ''Private Princess Christmas'' on the Hallmark channel. A spoiled royal princess is sent to a leadership boot camp, run by a tough, no-nonsense commander (Klena), to prove her mettle. But Klena's character reveals his softer side at a Christmas party, singing ''Edelweiss,'' like another captain, from ''The Sound of Music.'' Hallmark recently had another holiday romance called a ''A Carol for Two,'' about a singing server with Broadway dreams at a N.Y. restaurant. It starred Ginna Claire Mason and Jordan Litz, who have played Glinda and Fiyero, respectively, in ''Wicked'' on Broadway, and Tony nominee Charlotte D'Amboise. Another Hallmark yuletide movie with Broadway names is ''One Royal Holiday,'' starring Aaron Tveit, Laura Osnes and Victoria Clark. |
