Look, I “get” why the bit about Rose crying “rape!” has been cut — I miss that bit. It reveals so much about the character and how far she’s willing to go. But I get that the audience and the culture now is different. Whatever.
But who the hell is offended by Herbie’s ONE funny line?? It’s been cut in this production. Who are we protecting? Who had their feelings hurt? Ugly sisters?
That quibble aside, I had a fantastic time. Audra is absolutely phenomenal. PHENOMENAL. And she’s only going to get better. It’s a production that’s already in fantastic shape and I cannot WAIT to see it again!! |
