| I had hoped to see this at the Ahmanson, but there have been massive medical and dental bills, so it ain’t gonna happen. Ditto the KIMBERLY AKIMBO tour, which I was hoping to see in Orange County. Still on for FOLLIES at the Pasadena Civic and TOP DOG/UNDERDOG at the Pasadena Playhouse (bicoastal—what night are you going to that?), since those were already in the budget, and we had a fabulous time at the East West Players PACIFIC OVERTURES on Sunday. First time in years that I got to see a show with all three of my girls, plus my awesome son in law (who is Japanese American), plus two long time friends (one is a writer and Sondheim fan who had never managed to see PO—they were in town for a convention, spent Thanksgiving with us, and came to the show). Laura in LA, who politely suggests if Chatterati need good holiday gifts with a theatrical theme, they might consider her BROADWAY REVIVAL novel (time traveler saves Gershwin!), her BROADWAY MUSICAL QUIZ BOOK, and her spouse’s RULED BRITANNIA, an alternate history in which the Spanish occupy England and Shakespeare joins the resistance |
