After all the back-and-forth about Gavin Creel’s lights-dimming, The Broadway League (which speaks for the theatre owners) decreed that all theatres wd dim their lights. For him. A lovely young man and a lovely gesture. Anyone have any pull to suggest this might be done for Helen Gallagher? She was right up there with the best of them. And, as with Creel’s activism for the Defense of Marriage Act, Helen gave all her spare time snd energy to offering singing classes and a sense of community to newbies snd oldies, as well as pushing for AFTRA pensions.
She matched all the greats in talent and accomplishment and range (Gooch? Ado Annie?!), plus she made an impact on the world. |
