I saw a few early reviews for ''The Piano Lesson'' and they weren't all that favorable, even for Samuel Jackson, expected to be an Oscar contender.
In a GoldDerby.com roundtable, awards experts from Variety, the Hollywood Reporter, etc., debated the likeliest contenders for Supporting Actor, and Jackson's name didn't even come up. The front-runner might be Kieran Culkin (''A Real Pain''), who just won the N.Y. Film Critics Circle prize.
By the way, I don't think Jackson's griping about not winning an Oscar in the past is the best way to garner good will and win THIS time.
Elsewhere, some pundits expect ''Wicked'' to rack up double-digit nominations, but will Cynthia Erivo win the Oscar to complete her EGOT? Hmmmm ... |
