For the record, the Off-Broadway ''Avenue Q'' lost Best Musical to ''Hairspray'' at the Drama League and the Drama Desk Awards.
The Outer Critics had a separate Best Off-Broadway Musical category, where ''Avenue Q'' lost to ''A Man of No Importance.''
Anyway, my point was, in its season, there were many who thought ''Wicked'' was a worthy Best Musical (vs. ''Caroline, or Change,'' ''Taboo,'' etc.). |
