It's a great topic!
I still mispronounce "ebullient," though it's because my dad used to pronounce it with the accent on the "eb." Just the other day, someone on a Slate podcast mispronounced a word I thought they must have read in a book (can't remember it at the moment). To me, it just suggests that someone is trying to express an idea intelligently (here, of course, we're talking about misspellings--a word I initially misspelled, which is why I spent so many years in radio, so no one would know how terrible my spelling is), and I feel like maybe we should be a little forgiving about all that.
But, yes, it does make me giggle a bit. And then I feel guilty. And that makes me giggle all over again!
