Either Erivo isn't comfortable with the way she sounds in the film (doubtful lol), or more likely she doesn't want to "don't" anyone seeing it. Privately, I wonder if she would rather people don't sing along, but surely she didn't want to sound negative about it on the parade broadcast. Not the right time? Too bad, because it would have been a good "teaching moment" to fans. I recently finished a regional run of Spongebob. We had a number of school group morning performances. The general audiences were great, the school groups loudly clapped along with any song they could. (Sometimes including the "in 5" reprise of "Simple Sponge" when Spongebob is climbing to the top of the volcano. That was pure hell.) I understand the energy of wanting to clap along, but I sure wish someone would be able to find a way to simply say "don't." |
