it's not just the volume

I had the exact same disappointing experience at a Regal theatre "RPX" screen. It's not that the volume is too low. It sounds too flat. Despite 2 rows of speakers on the walls going straight to the back, the sound felt like it was only coming from behind the screen. Most disconcerting was that I heard this problem most with the music and singing, not with the sound effects. The orchestra felt very muted. The singing sometimes felt distant - particularly Erivo's Wizard and I- it really sounded like you were outside with her and hearing her across the field. I read that like Les Miz, they filmed the singing live, which I applaud but they still need to perfect the technology.
