| Based on your research calling my attention to it, Alan, I found that Cole Porter himself also recorded "Her Heart Was in Her Work". I don't know if he sang all the verses, but he did have a pleasant singing voice, and yes, a couple of those images in those lyrics are still ear-catchers for their bawdiness. After piano intro, he starts singing at about 1:10. Was Claudine also on stage and taking part in "Maidens Typical of France"? I guess Lilo is lecturing the girls in "Never Give Anything Away" which would make sense for Claudine to be on stage with the other girls. |
