| What is exactly the issue in Yellow Face? That a mixed race actor has been attacked for appearing too white to one person in the audience. I don't think we saw the same play. South Korea is one of the countries in the world with the largest number of immigrants from America many settling in and around Seoul. Most of these are of mixed race. I doubt most Koreans would give it a second thought but perhaps it does add to their worries about being caught. It is however primarily irrelevant (except to someone with an over-fixation on race) As far as the owner picking whatever model, (again this is not and should not be an issue in this charming and highly entertaining musical) as a fan of American jazz of the forties and fifties, I certainly can understand the owner doing this. Overall I thought about none of this while enjoying what is now one of my favorite small musicals. |
