That's interesting - thanks for posting that. As I said, I certainly get the idea of a "nervous laughter" reaction. I suppose the awareness of so much anti-semitism in our current zeitgeist is affecting the way I look at this in general. And having not seen the current production, it's hard to judge whether I'd hear the reactions in the same context/demeanor that Joel Grey describes. Still, the way he wrote about it did affect me. I guess we all have to decide for ourselves how we feel. It's a tough time in the world, to say the least. I've also been through a lot lately personally (health-wise, unrelated to anything political) which might be affecting my reactions as well. I think it's good that we're having this discussion, no matter what we personally feel about the issue.
