NEW OFF-BROADWAY REVIEW - "300 PAINTINGS"

James Wilson takes a look at 300 Paintings at the Vineyard Theatre:

Former stand-up comic Sam Kissajukian states matter-of-factly at the beginning of his one-person show, "I'm not from the theatre. I'm from Australia." In 300 Paintings, currently playing at the Vineyard Theatre, Kissajukian, who has bipolar disorder, chronicles his experiences as a self-taught artist and aspiring entrepreneur. The amiable show, a hybrid consisting of personal memoir, stand-up, and art lecture/ exhibition, is alternately wry and poignant. Reflecting the creator/performer's background, though, it's regrettably short on theatricality.
