Yeah, so much of the book is just clearly bogus. I suppose it has its place, but it cannot be taken seriously as theatre history and least of all as journalism. He not only gives us extensive quotes of conversations he clearly was not present for, he gives us people's thoughts. And it's not like he spoke to someone who told him what they were thinking, and he wrote, "Donald Saddler was thinking he might add a new tap section for 'You Can Dance With Any Girl,'" but people's thoughts as if he were a long-distance mind-reader. |
