| I'm sorry but I've always found that to be the most tired and irrelevant argument to defend or dismiss any other issues in a musical. Also, I'm not saying I care or that it'll take me out of it... but if it didn't, it wouldn't be absurd on *my* part, because you watch a musical and you accept that it's a musical. Because people are singing that doesn't mean that all other realities or rules established as part of the story are off. If they tell us this is a college and these are young college age people beginning school... you aren't wrong for wondering why they all look 30-38 years old, especially when it is because they are. Some of my favorite movies or tv shows about high school or college have casts that are clearly older than their characters. It's not the end of the world. But that doesn't mean we can't comment on what we're seeing... because we ARE seeing what's there. |
