| To me, he looks every bit his age, and that's not at all an insult. He just reads as mid-30s to me. (I also seem to be in the rare position of not finding him swoon-worthy in the looks dept. Sure he's attractive but he does nothing for me) Now, I've also said that Cynthia is/looks far too old for Elphaba on film. But I think others have said that. Bailey just does not look like he's in college. Now to be fair, the entire cast is way too old... all the major college aged main players are played by actors over 30. Which I think had to happen to balance out the age of Cynthia and to a much lesser extent Ariana (who was 30(?) while filming, but is much more convincing for early 20s due to her frame, size, features, and voice all being extremely youthful, while Cynthia was 36 while filming and looks and sounds like an adult woman in her 30s to me.) That said, regarding Evan Hansen ... when played by an adult, i think there's a MUCH bigger difference for being convincing on film as high school vs college. |
