| On the drive home from seeing the movie, I told my husband that the movie's only major misfire for me was that Jonathan Bailey looked ridiculously old compared to his Shiz peers. When I first learned of the casting, I thought Erivo would look positively ancient for Elphaba, but the green makeup went a long way toward making her look more youthful in the role. Poor Jonathan Bailey didn't have the same advantage. My husband joked that since his character is quite dim, he might've been a 12th year senior at Shiz. |
