The substitute Leonora was Leah Hawkins, a rising American soprano who won the Met's Beverly Sills Award this year. She's appeared at the Met several times in the past few seasons, including as soprano soloist in the Verdi Requiem last season. She also recently sang Tosca at Santa Fe Opera and Musetta in concert with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
The substitute Manrico was Arturo Chacon-Cruz, a veteran Mexican tenor who was surprisingly making his house debut. |
