Theater is in part an act of community, and I believe that it has more a positive than negative cultural influence. It's worth whatever PTA meetings, protests (also acts of community) and criticisms come its way.

To paraphrase from Our Town, "there are things we all know, but we don't take them out very often and look at them." Sure, not everyone might like the sight, but I think the looking is worth it.
