Otherwise, why do it. The original run brands the show as broadway so there are tours and local productions that will happen and some of that money might go back to investors. But these “revivals” don’t make much sense unless they do recoup. Maybe they get some good deal for theater lease, but there is still a lot of weekly costs that can’t be cut. Maybe sets and costumes are in storage from previous shows would save a lot. But, I assume a bare bones musical like this would be around $8m at least. You’ve have to make $1.6mweek above costs for 2 months to get that back (I picked $1.6 because about 40% above gross goes to royalties and other percentages, so only about 60% is returned to investors)
