I'm glad you mentioned Burns Mantle, because I had consulted the 1977-78 Best Plays before posting that "Shenandoah" was not a financial success. Allow me to quote from p. 6:
"SHENANDOAH had recouped only about 80 per cent of its cost after 1,050 performances."
I think that it is safe to say that it closed at a deficit. |
