Did you ever revisit the production with any of Cumming's successors? I'm wondering if you felt the characterization was purely the creation of Cumming or if any of the many other Emcees in that production also gave you what you described from Cumming.
I would also be curious to know how many of the parade of Emcees were actually directed by Mendes over the years. Besides Cumming, I would hazard a guess that Norbert Leo Butz, who originated the role in the tour, and Vance Avery, who was the long time standby and eventually took over the role at some point (I think), benefited from working with Mendes, but I wonder if any of the others did. |
