A ceremony was held earlier this week to mark the Al Hirschfeld Theatre’s 100th anniversary. Ted Stimpson and Jordan Roth welcomed everyone to the intimate gathering. Roth recounted the rich history of the Hirschfeld, including the original productions of Kinky Boots, Into the Woods, Bye Bye Birdie, The Crucible, and seminal revivals of Hair, Guys and Dolls, and Kiss Me, Kate. He shared the theater has "always been a singular building. It proudly stands on its own side of Eighth Avenue. It's the architectural metaphor of dream your own dream."
There was an unveiling of a special piece from Broadway caricaturist Justin "Squigs" Robertson. The commissioned artwork features over 100 artists who have performed in the venue, some of whom were in attendance, including Peter Gallagher, Danny Burstein, Stark Sands, and J. Harrison Ghee.
