Hi all, I just want to mention a couple of books I am LOVING RIGHT NOW--in case you don't know them (and I suspect most of you DO know them--maybe they were even reviewed here, I don't know)-- By EDDIE SHAPIRO: "Nothing Like a Dame" the book is about ten years old, profiles the musical theater female stars--Audra, Patti, Victoria etc. I don't know how the author got them to open up the way they do, but it is utterly fascinating and well-done. He takes them from their childhoods to a trip through their careers chronologically and asks great questions. The answers are illuminating. "A Wonderful Guy"-- same concept for the men, from 2021. Christian, Norm, Norbert, etc. There are about twenty in-depth interviews in each book. Its amazing how he captures each artist's singular voice. I am learning so much about the stars' thought process, how THEY experienced those great roles which we saw from FOH. I think there may be a third book about more women stars... Check'em out if you like !! Cheers, Vivian |
