While I hope the major critics take very seriously the impact they might have and look at the value of the work in a show -- the elements that work and don't, shine and fall flat (rather than just "good or bad", etc), and consider carefully who the show might be for, and its context in culture and broadway now and in a larger sense, when writing their review... it is not their job or responsibility to "support" a show with their review, and looking at a mixed or negative review as a critic "not wanting to" "support this show" is unfair and inaccurate. |
