Can we talk a moment about the ticket sales to this show- or should I say The Lack of Sales. Just do a ticket search by day and the house is only about 25% sold. This past Saturday I looked and the matinee looked about 60% sold but the evening show was only 25% sold. Not great this week leading up to opening night on Thursday. Broadway Direct is offering deep discounts but they still can’t sell this huge theatre. Personally I feel people are just not interested in this subject matter of the show right now- or at least not in mass ticket buying to fill the Palace Theatre. Maybe the producers were more interested in getting to be the first book show to play the new Palace Theatre way in advance to reading the room. I also think some shows just don’t translate well from London to NYC (either direction). Tammy Faye is probably a show that should have stayed in a smaller venue and then build an audience word of mouth (Kimberly Akimbo).
