Belafonte sang three songs in the show. Judging by the recordings he made of those songs, his time onstage was probably around 9-10 minutes, unless he also did a spoken introduction for one or more of the songs. But if he did, I'd imagine they were short. There is not a cast album. There is a compilation album called John Murray Anderson’s Almanac and Other Broadway-London Revues, that includes four songs that were in the show on Broadway, not all of them sung by people who sang them in the show. Those tracks come from an Hermione Gingold album and a Cyril Ritchard album, in which he was joined on some songs by Elaine Dunn, who was in the show, in which she sang only one of the two songs on which she duets with Ritchard on this compilation CD. Ritchard directed the show. I'm wondering if "Someone Is Sending Me Flowers" was perhaps cut from the show during the tryout, given its placement on the CD, but it wasn't in the show on Broadway. The CD does include a bit of Billy DeWolfe with Gingold. He was in the show. I hope I've got all of that right. If you scroll down on the castalbums page for the compilation CD, you can get more info on the Gingold and Ritchard albums. |
