I enjoyed the excellent revival of "Ragtime" at yesterday's Sat Mat at City Center. We usually sit in the Mezzanine, but the high cost of seats for this show and my familiarity with the content encouraged me to buy $38 rear balcony seats. The sight line and sound were excellent. At intermission, however, getting to the bathrooms was a nightmare. We're almost 80. My wife moves slowly. The ladies' room line was ridiculous. We went down to the 2nd floor (we should have gone to the mezz) and we saw what we thought was a reasonable line, but it was 4 times longer than we imagined because it snaked down a long corridor and back before the entrance. Women were panicking. Some rushed the men's room, to the dismay of the usher. This must happen frequently when they have sold out shows (which is, come to think of it, infrequent). Shanda (shame in Yiddish) in tribute to the v good job of Brandon Uranowitz. |
