How do you think Mary Poppins would fare with the Von Trapps and Maria with the Banks kids in "Mary Poppins"? | |

Since Julie Andrews' most famous movie roles were two rather distinct children's guardians, I thought what if they switched situations. Isn't there a nice staircase bannister in the Von Trapp's house for the whole family to slide upwards? Poppins could dance the "Laendler" halfway off the ground with the Captain while having the Baroness blown away by the wind. She had a whole elaborate skywalking with her umbrella and smoke at her disposal to get the family away from the Nazis at the end, too. Maria could take out her guitar and start sit-ins with the Birdwoman for social justice along with Jane and Michael near St. Paul's with some nun friends, as well as by the bank. She could make even better suffragette costumes for Winnifred and her campaign using curtains. (Getting a little silly, but trying to keep off the news for a while). |
