Olly Dobson originated the role of Marty McFly ever since ''Back to the Future's'' musical workshops. He opened in it, pre-COVID, in Manchester, and, post-COVID, in the West End. From the videos I've seen, he nailed Michael J. Fox's voice. Dobson got terrific reviews and an Olivier Award nomination.

He should've been a natural to do Broadway, too, but I saw a report that said the producers felt they needed an American actor to play Marty in NYC.

At the same time, they brought over Hugh Coles, the Brit actor who was Olivier-nominated for playing George McFly. Guess that's showbiz, but it sucks.
