I haven't listened to the cast recording yet, but I saw the first preview on Broadway and, similarly, I was very taken by her vocal performance. I expected it all to be BIG -- and there was plenty of "BIG", for sure -- but I was also impressed at how much color, expression and character-driven nuance there was in her vocal performance, too.
I wish her PHYSICAL performance had been delivered as tastefully, but that's Jamie Lloyd's direction for you. |
