I have always been a vaccine advocate and a supporter of medical technology; I might very well not be here to post this without the immunotherapy drugs that beat my cancer. I have relatives and friends in the sciences and medical professions.
But nothing gets you so worked up over an issue as when it gets personal. My granddaughter Phoebe was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis at eighteen months. She’s now a second grader, and her weekly shots are keeping JA at bay.
But Phoebe can’t have a lot of childhood vaccines. She—and others like her on immunosuppressants—need to rely on herd immunity to protect them. That requires over 90% compliance with vaccines, to cover for the people who can’t get them.
People like Levi and Kennedy put my granddaughter at risk.
