Its of mild interest that Susan Stroman has not had a hit on Broadway since 2001. 23 years ago. THE PRODUCERS. (I admit that its possible that POTUS recouped - though I don't know if I'd call it a hit - but maybe ONE in 23 years). SMASH will be her twelfth show in those 24 years (2025 opening).
I don't know of a director with that track record that ever kept getting work on Broadway.
In a 20 year period, Gower Champion did 15 shows. 6 were hits (BYE BYE BIRDIE, CARNIVAL, HELLO DOLLY< 42ND STREET, IRENE, and I DO I DO) |
