Thank you for taking the time to 'teach me something'.

I too have been going to the theatre for a very long time (the out-of-town tryout of SUGARBABIES in Chicago back in 1979 was my first show if that gives you any indication) and I was in the business (West End, not Broadway) for more years than I care to share. But really, thanks for the lesson.

The second half of your post is interesting though I highly disagree with a large part of it, especially the comments re the score. Much of the score appears to be intact from the Almeida and it was that score that critics had more than decent praise for. As for the Falwell song, many critics pointed that out as a highlight and the actor who rendered it in London walked away with an Olivier so why would they change it?

But don't get me wrong. I didn't think the show was perfection in London but it had a LOT of promise and got some rather terrific notices including one in the NYT. I too thought the framework needed better focus and perhaps they have changed it, perhaps not.

But with only two previews under their belt and several weeks left before they open, anything is possible and I hope they do whatever work they can to make a better show even if it can't be a perfect one.

It might struggle to get nominations given that it actually is a busy season...aside from the two you mentioned, we still have BOOP!, SMASH, Redwood, Swept Away, Real Women Have Curves and Lord knows what else until the deadline.
