The Broadway League and The Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds (COBUG) Bring Back Broadway Salutes for its 15th Annual Celebration on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 For the first time since 2019, the special industry-wide event will take place at Sardi's and will be hosted by Tony Award® winner Laura Benanti with performances by Tony Award® nominee Norm Lewis, honoring artists and professionals who have been part of the Broadway community for 25, 35, and 50+ years New York, NY – October 22, 2024 – The Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds (COBUG) and The Broadway League announce the return of the annual Broadway Salutes event – for the first time since 2019 – on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Sardi's Restaurant (234 West 44th St). The event will begin at 3:30 PM with the reception taking place from 4 PM to 5 PM with elected officials, celebrities, and the theater community. Hosting this year's ceremony will be Tony Award® winner Laura Benanti, most recently seen in her one-woman show Nobody Cares at the Minetta Lane Theater. She has previously appeared in Into the Woods, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, She Loves Me, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, In the Next Room, Nine, and others. Benanti is a four-time Tony Award® nominee who won "Best Featured Actress in a Musical" for her star-making role as Louise in the revival of Gypsy. The evening will also feature a performance by Tony Award® nominee Norm Lewis, who has appeared in Chicken in Biscuits, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, The Phantom of the Opera, and Once on This Island. At this industry-wide reception, theatre professionals will receive special recognition for having worked 25, 35, and 50+ years on Broadway and for their invaluable contributions to the business. Broadway Salutes honors actors, agents, attorneys, box office treasurers, casting directors, choreographers, composers, designers, directors, dressers, managers, musicians, orchestrators, producers, publicists, stagehands, stage managers, stylists, theatre owners, ticket sellers, ushers, writers, and many more theatre professionals who have dedicated their careers to the success of Broadway. Since the first ceremony in 2009, co-created by COBUG and The Broadway League, Broadway Salutes has honored more than 5,300 members of the theatre community. During the ceremony, the names of the honorees will scroll on the electronic zipper in Shubert Alley (between Broadway and 8th Avenue and 44th and 45th Streets), beginning at 3:45 PM and continuing until 5 PM. "Our community's love of Broadway runs so deep that many dedicate decades of their lives to preserving its magic," said The Broadway League's Immediate Past Chair and Broadway Salutes Committee Co-Chair, Lauren Reid.
