| Victor Victoria with Raquel. The show was moribund without Andrews, and the qualities that made the Welch Woman of the Year slickly engaging cold not be repurposed in a vehicle requiring skills she lacked. The stage iteration has an especially dull second half, the Mancini songs mostly exhausted. The audience drifted in and out during the act, as if watching a final dress open to the public. Perhaps a comment on the Marquis, hotel accessible, as much as the weak synergy of star and musical. |
