| FWIW I enjoyed the West End production of Patriots with Tom Hollander as Boris Berezovsky, but had a more lukewarm reaction to Stuhlbarg's take on the same. I was disappointed with Vladimir. It reminded me a lot of last season's Breaking the Story at 2nd Stage, which I actively disliked. I found the spirit-like dramaturgical device in Vladimir to have been clumsily woven in. Its selective use of accents made sense conceptually but for me wasn't executed convincingly and became distracting and cartoonish. The set felt both bland and visually cluttered. |
