| First of all, I gave you the dictionary definition of "woke." "Groupthink" is the worst definition of "wokeness" I have ever heard. Moreover, it just sounds like a euphemism. Secondly, unless you are using a more nefarious meaning for groupthink (the sort of thing people don't say in polite company even if they do say it in the company of people they "know"), groupthink means prioritizing consensus over critical thinking. Really? Perhaps you'd like to reconsider. Theatre that does not aim to challenge is the definition of garbage theatre. Which brings me to the wonderfully critical thinking you offer us: that shows close "because there are people NOT coming to it." Well, there are about a quarter of a billion adults in this country, of whom roughly 0.0056% have seen Wicked (which I am pretty sure is the highest attended current show). Perhaps you'd like to reconsider that metric. Finally, I am pretty sure I have read and/or seen every extant play (from short one-acts to very very long ones) by O'Neill, Williams, and Miller. It is inconceivable to me that one would employ their names to prove you point. Or may not. Maybe you are just going on what it "sounds" like they may be about... :-) |
