| The original Times piece, spreading suspicion about Wen Ho Lee, was written by James Risen and Jeff Gerth. Risen has subsequently expressed some remorse for his reporting; much has been written about the unraveling of the story and the Times apologized for not meeting its journalistic standards. The Times story targeting Henry Y. Hwang, essentially for money laundering, was written by Tim Golden and Jeff Gerth. I think it's safe to say the character in Yellow Face is based on Gerth. |
