My feeling is that if I paid for it, I’m seeing the whole damned thing no matter how dismal it is. I’m the same way with books. Once I open it, I’m committed to it. My spouse mocks me for this constantly. But honestly, I can’t imagine paying $100-$200 for a theater ticket and not staying till the end. I don’t recall off the top of my head when I’ve seen a mediocre first act redeemed by a spectacular second act, but as Nick Carraway says, “Reserving judgments is a matter of infinite hope.”
